This photograph shows the Manhattan skyline, as well as the Battery, a 25-acre park at the tip of Manhattan Island. The park was named for the artillery batteries that used to protect the city and its harbor from this location.
Contributor: Audrey Fullerton-Samora of Sacramento, great niece of William and Grace McCarthy, donated the William M. McCarthy Photograph Collection to the California State Archives in 1996.
