Charles Rivers Drake, a Civil War veteran and early Long Beach developer. During the Great Depression, the hotel suffered the fate of many businesses during that time and closed its doors in October of 1932.
Contributor: Audrey Fullerton-Samora of Sacramento, great niece of William and Grace McCarthy, donated the William M. McCarthy Photograph Collection to the California State Archives in 1996.
