American Revolution Bicentennial Commission of California

California Bicentennial Dispatch

The American Revolution Bicentennial Commission of California produced several publications. Their pamphlet titled Purposes and Procedures contained suggestions for different organizations seeking official recognition of their bicentennial activities. Other titles they published included California Plans for the American Revolution Bicentennial Commemoration and General Themes and Goals for California’s Participation in America’s 200th Birthday Observances. The Sacramento Union newspaper printed, at no expense to the commission, a newsletter called the California Bicentennial Dispatch. The Dispatch ran from 1973 to 1974 and offered updates about commemorative projects that succeeded in receiving official state recognition. Local city and county bicentennial activities were also publicized in the pages of the Dispatch.
