Bicentennial Time Capsule
One of the last acts of the commission was the creation of a bicentennial time capsule. On October 12, 1976, California Secretary of State Dr. March Fong Eu and commission member Charles J. Conrad sealed the capsule in a ceremony. The capsule was made by the Reynolds Metals Company and was filled with photos of bicentennial activities, commission publications, newspapers, memorabilia and a hand-printed scroll. The time capsule remains at the California State Archives and is due to be opened in the year 2076.
