Camron-Stanford House
Some bicentennial projects and events supported by the commission were considered sponsored, which meant that the commission helped secure funding for them. Most projects did not receive any funding, and there were three types of unfunded support. The commission could recognize certain commercial projects, which were allowed to include the following statement in their advertising: “Recognized by the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission of California.” The commission could also approve projects, which were then allowed to use similar language in their advertising. Finally, the commission could endorse projects and events. Unlike recognized and approved projects, endorsed projects could also use the commission’s official logo. One endorsed project was the restoration of Oakland’s historic Camron-Stanford House.
